My expertise spans diverse industries, including mining, energy, and construction, with a core focus on advancing control centres. I specialise in human-machine integration, autonomous systems, and digital solutions that improve safety, boost productivity, and promote employee well-being.

Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with autonomous mining systems, led teams through technological transitions, and supported major mining projects with strategic leadership. I have also developed and implemented technology operational readiness strategies to foster seamless adaptation to innovation; as well as designed and delivered tailored curricula to equip workers with the skills needed to thrive in technology-driven workplaces.

Passionate about shaping the future of work by integrating human-centered principles into advanced technologies, I hold a PhD in Mining Automation and Remote Operations with a specialisation in Human Factors. My work addresses the challenges of digital transformation, ensuring seamless integration of technology into the workplace.

All contributions, big and small, have brought the diversity of thought needed to develop quality guidance for the global industry. This guideline provides a common approach to applying functional safety to autonomous systems and references international standards within the context of the mining industry and its current maturity. It also describes clear expectations for the communication requirements to support change management and effective application. Due to the rapidly changing landscape of autonomous systems in mining and the challenges around applying existing standards to it, there was a great need for the industry to come together on this topic. This guideline brings our industry one step closer to safer mines of the future and is an excellent example of what industry collaboration, including having the challenging conversations, can accomplish.
